In 2022, Bedfordshire’s same day delivery specialists HBC Logistics, began the official journey of sustainability, choosing a collaborative and effective approach with Carbon Neutral Britain – one of the UK’s leading carbon-offsetting initiatives.
Sustainability has been an important topic in the business world for many years, and it’s becoming an essential part of any long-term strategy. Today’s industries are shaped not only by the quality of service they provide, but also by the values they uphold and the impact they create. Embracing sustainability is no longer just an option, it’s a key step towards building lasting success.
And proudly, HBC Logistics is a carbon-positive business – dedicated to providing same day and sustainable courier services in the UK.
Here’s why it matters and how we got there.
Our Journey So Far…
Our partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain began in 2022 and involves an annual audit to calculate our carbon footprint. The data is used to generate a fee that is paid to the not-for-profit organisation to offset our carbon footprint for the year.
The funds are then used to run Carbon Neutral Britain’s several carbon offsetting projects around different parts of the world. Based on their direct and indirect impact, all of their projects are certified to the highest standards through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) and Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes. While becoming carbon neutral was an important milestone for HBC Logistics, we recognised there was more we could do to make a real difference. That’s why we introduced our Carbon Positive scheme in partnership with our customers. Together, we raise dedicated funds to support local sustainability projects within our own community.
Since launching the scheme, we’ve been proud to help five schools in Biggleswade and the surrounding areas accelerate their sustainability journeys. Through full funding, we’ve supported initiatives such as beehive colonies, gardening clubs, forest schools, and more. Our plan is to continue this as the budget renews each year.
Beyond reducing carbon impact, these projects bring something even more meaningful – inspiring the next generation. By giving students hands-on opportunities to learn about the environment, climate change, and the natural world, we hope to create an effect that lasts generations to come.

Why Is This Important?
As one of the most vital sectors to the economy, did you know Transport is the largest emitting sector of greenhouse gases, producing 30% of the UK’s total emissions in 2024? With this in mind, we knew action had to be taken to prove our commitment towards the environment and the future of Transport. With more businesses and individuals choosing eco-conscious partners, being sustainable is no longer about being ethical, it’s a clear and smart move for a business to showcase their dedication.
Additionally, our Carbon Positive scheme doesn’t just benefit the environment, it also creates value for our customers and partners. By working with HBC Logistics, businesses can demonstrate a clear commitment to sustainability within their own supply chains, strengthening their own goals and their reputation with clients who prioritise eco-friendly practices. Every delivery contributes to local projects that make a visible difference in the community, meaning our partners can share in the positive impact and proudly align their brand with a greener, more responsible future.
