In a heartwarming step toward supporting local sustainability, HBC Logistics — a same-day courier company and proud carbon-neutral business — has delivered eight handmade bug hotels to St Swithun’s Primary School in Sandy.
This initiative is part of our growing commitment to local carbon-offsetting efforts and environmental education. The bug hotels, lovingly crafted by Wildlife Bird and Care, will soon become part of a garden area at the school — forming the foundation of a budding “bug village” where students can engage directly with nature and learn about the importance of insect habitats.
The bug hotels were created with care and passion by Wildlife Bird and Care. Each piece was made by their team who are autistic and share a strong enthusiasm for wildlife conservation.
The initiative aligns with our broader environmental goals, which include reducing carbon emissions across operations and investing in projects that support ecological balance in the communities they serve. Delivering the bug hotels by same-day courier — with their carbon footprint fully offset — was both a symbolic and practical way to put their values into action.
At St Swithun’s, excitement buzzes (pun intended) as staff and students prepare to welcome their new tiny residents with a place to stay. The protected bug village will be a space for learning, encouraging children to observe insects in their natural habitats.
By bringing together sustainability and education, HBC Logistics have created something more than just bug hotels — they’ve helped build a lasting resource for community growth and environmental stewardship.
