On Friday 3rd May, Dave Northfield and gang headed over to Cheltenham Race Course to represent HBC Logistics as the Headline Sponsor for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Event, hosted alongside Cheltenham’s Season Finale – a meeting that enables amateur riders to compete for the dream of winning at the Home of Jump racing with seven fiercely fought Hunter chases.
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity hosted their annual fundraising event in the National Hunt Restaurant during this event. Despite their significance, this organisation doesn’t even receive financial support from the Government or National Lottery. As one of the busiest air ambulance services in the UK, every year they must raise £13-14 million to maintain their aircraft and lifesaving service. They raise this money through charity events like these, and their long-standing relationship with Cheltenham Racecourse makes a huge difference.
Therefore, HBC Logistics were proud to be the Headline Sponsor for this charity event and was invited to join the team at the venue with full access to the races and live DJ after-party. The day was packed with amazing hospitality, competitive betting and most importantly, learning more about what the Air Ambulance team do in their day-to-day.
Speaking on behalf of the HBC guests, I think we can all agree that the highlight of the day was being honoured with the responsibility of choosing the best-presented horse for Race Four, also known as the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Race, and having the opportunity to watch the race from the Royal Box, presenting the best view of the whole course. This was a decision that had to be made depending on grooming and presentation, and we agreed that Number Eight, named Definite Dilemma, was the best presented due to the stars imprinted on the horse’s back. After that, our Director Dave had the pleasure of presenting the award to the winning jockey and her team. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the team were grateful to experience it.
This opportunity at Cheltenham fell conveniently at a time when our Charity teams were planning who and what to support this year. At HBC Logistics, we are very close to announcing our new charity initiative – where we plan to support one charity per month through internal fundraising, volunteering, or even our delivery services. Therefore, we are proud to announce that the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is the first of many amazing charities that HBC will be supporting this year.
Keep an eye out on our social media channels where this week we will be announcing the total amount raised for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity at the event.
