HBC Logistics is excited to be diving deeper into the world of Motorsport with our brand-new sponsor, Archie Davies. At just fourteen years old, Archie competes in the Fiesta Junior Championship in the BRSCC (British Racing and Sports Car Club) and has just completed his second weekend of the season at Brands Hatch.
The BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship is one of the fastest-growing junior racing series in the UK and is supposedly the ideal platform for any young drivers looking to begin their major circuit racing career. Catering to youngsters ageing from fourteen to seventeen years old, the drivers make use of the Mk6 Ford Fiesta ST Hatchbacks in this fast, competitive and adventurous version of motorsport.
Based locally in Baldock, Bedfordshire, it looks like Archie had an action-packed weekend at the famous Brands Hatch circuit – one that has been discussed regularly in our News section thanks to BTCC’s Aron Taylor-Smith. Archie didn’t get off to the best start as the car experienced power issues throughout Practice 1 and Practice 2 meaning he had to miss out on Practice 3 and most of Practice 4 whilst the car was being repaired by his team, Race Car Consultants. Despite this, Archie managed five laps at the end of Practice 4 proving the issue now seemed to be resolved and was now able to focus on getting it done – which resulted in finishing in the top ten ahead of qualifying.
Soon came Race 1 and disaster struck on the grid with driveshaft failure, meaning he didn’t even get off the start line… GUTTED. This meant more work for poor Archie and his team, ready for Race 2 on Sunday.
The DNF meant Archie started in P22 right at the back of the grid, leaving him a lot of work to do. He wasted no time at all – head down and focused on working his way through the pack. His luck seemed to continually run out as the safety car was on track due to incidents meaning there was only actually six minutes of racing. Despite this, Archie managed to get from P22 to P14 in just 360 seconds before the chequered flag came out.
Next up was Race 3… is it going to get better for young Archie? Starting solidly in P14, once those lights turned green he was off and managed to work his way to P8. Ending the weekend on a high, Archie had the second fastest lap of the day, only 0.2 seconds off the fastest time set. He has taught us a very valuable lesson – never give up!
Next up is Snetterton in May and we have already seen him smashing the laps on his simulator on his Instagram page. We look forward to seeing how he gets on at Snetterton and wish him all of the best!
